Dim Lighting

We may be familiar with the term dim lighting, but what is it really all about? Well, dim lighting is just as it sounds…the flexibility of how much lighting is in each room. There are different types of dimmers: touch, slide, rotary, and integrated. Each type of dimmer has their own advantages. Slide dim lighting allows you to move the settings manually. Touch lighting allows you to change the lighting settings by the touch of a button for easy convenience. Rotary dimmers are much like the old rotary telephones, they allow you to change the lighting by the operation of a dial. Finally, the integrated dimmers are nice in that they allow you to create multiple presets for each room. Let’s name just a few benefits to having dim lighting.

  • Ambience. Sometimes we just aren’t in the mood for bright lights. Or maybe the setting just doesn’t call for all out light. By installing dim lighting, you can easily set the scene just the way you’d like.
  • Saves you money. IES Light Logic says, “dimming a halogen bulb by 20% saves about 18% of the energy costs to operate it. Dimmer switches also make your light bulbs last longer. A halogen light bulb normally lasting 5-6 months can last up to 3 or 4 years.”
  • Sleep. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that you sleep better without lights beaming in your face. So then, dimming the lights before bed would no doubt help at night.

These are just a few of the benefits that you receive from installing dim lighting. So why not give it a try?
